MEET AMY POWELL, LPC

Founder of Resilient Counseling Services

Amy Powell.jpg

I earned my MA in Counseling from Gordon Conwell and my BA from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

My training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is from Behavioral Tech, Training Institute founded by Marsha Linehan, PhD.

My goal is to provide excellent clinical counseling for teens, families, college students, and adults. I have 20 years of professional experience working in many different clinical settings, including large agencies, schools, and community mental health. I have spent much of my life living and practicing in North Carolina, but decided to move my practice to Savannah in 2018 to be closer to family.

I work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues, and have an expertise in working with clients that struggle with social anxiety, generalized anxiety, OCD, ADD/ADHD, PTSD, self-harming behaviors, and depression. I specialize in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for adolescents and families, college-students, and adults.

In my experience, the combination of a long-term, positive therapeutic relationship and education on coping with life's challenges is invaluable. My goal for Resilient Counseling Services is to connect with individuals and provide a nonjudgmental environment that facilitates personal growth. Helping clients bounce back during difficult times is what I do best.

My clients often tell me that I give them just the right amount of validation and support, but still challenging them to make a change. I've found that establishing a genuine connection with my clients and watching them grow is what being a counselor is all about.
